Weinig closes two production sites

The Weinig Group, headquartered in Tauberbischofsheim, announced last Friday the closure of its production sites in Malterdingen and Alfeld. Machine manufacturing production in Germany will henceforth be concentrated at the company headquarters in Tauberbischofsheim and the Illertissen site. Sales, service, and engineering will remain at the Malterdingen and Alfeld locations. A total of approximately 400 jobs are expected to be affected by the structural changes, primarily in Germany. The company stated that it is currently working closely with the works council and the IG Metall union to explore all options for a socially responsible implementation.
