Versowood finalises deal with UPM as Korkeakoski sawmill changes hands

The competition authorities have approved the transaction announced in September under which Versowood Oy acquires the Korkeakoski sawmill in Juupajoki, Pirkanmaa, from UPM. The deal entered into force on the final day of last year. Alongside the ownership change, the two companies have concluded a wide-ranging cooperation agreement covering raw material flows. Under the arrangement, Versowood will supply UPM’s mills with sawmill by-products, primarily wood chips and pulpwood generated through log procurement.
