UK’s National Timber Group collapses, over 560 jobs cut immediately

The UK’s largest independent timber distributor, National Timber Group, has entered administration, immediately axing 561 employees. The Sheffield-based group operates 47 sites across England and Scotland, employing around 1,150 people, and generates a combined turnover of £350 million. Administrators from Alvarez & Marsal have closed 13 branches and mothballed several production facilities while remaining depots continue to trade. The collapse comes after prolonged weak trading, high interest rates, and reduced demand across the UK construction and timber markets.
