Sweden's softwood lumber exports got off to a difficult start in 2026, with shipments falling by more than 320,000 m³ compared with the same period a year earlier. The decline was not caused by Europe. Most of the lost volume came from the United States, China, Japan and several North African destinations. According to Global Wood Markets Info analysis of Eurostat data, Swedish softwood lumber exports totalled 1.77 million m³ during the first quarter of 2026, down 15% from 2.09 million m³ a year earlier.
