Stockholm launches Europe’s largest wooden city project as timber gains ground in sustainable construction

Sweden has embarked on an ambitious construction project to develop what is being described as the world’s largest wooden city. The initiative, led by developer Atrium Ljungberg, will transform the former industrial area of Sickla in southern Stockholm into a large-scale urban district built primarily with timber. The project, called Stockholm Wood City, represents a 12 billion SEK investment (approximately $1.25 billion) and will span around 250,000 square meters.
