Metsä Fibre’s Rauma sawmill runs at less than 60% capacity

Metsä Fibre’s sawmill in Rauma, Finland, is running at less than 60% of its capacity, underscoring weak demand in the wood products market. The mill, part of Metsä Group, is considered one of the most modern sawmills in the world and the most expensive in Finland. Since its launch in autumn 2022, however, it has not reached its design capacity, despite an investment of around €260m. The plant is designed to produce 750,000 cubic metres of lumber annually.
