Germany’s softwood lumber exports pivot to non-EU markets in 2025

Germany’s softwood lumber exports showed a clear divergence between volume and value in January–November 2025, reflecting a continued reorientation toward higher-priced markets and a reduced reliance on intra-European trade. Export volumes declined by 9% year on year, but export value increased by 5% to €1.88 billion, lifting the average realised price to roughly €277/m³, compared with around €239/m³ in the same period of 2024.
