Germany’s sawmill industry is heading in 2025 toward the lowest production volume of softwood lumber in the past six years. Production is expected to reach 21.3 million cubic meters (m³), representing a decrease of approximately 5% compared with the previous year. This continues the trend observed over the past two years, which have already recorded falling production. The main reasons for this development are persistently weak demand, particularly in export markets, and limited availability of raw materials.
