Demand for softwood sawlogs in Austria remained subdued in March and early April, with sawmills holding comfortable inventories amid weak economic conditions and a strong harvesting season, according to the latest report from the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture (LK Österreich). The oversupply situation is reflected in rising forest stock levels, as transport bottlenecks, including limited freight capacity, weather-related road closures and rail wagon shortages, have slowed log flows from forest to mill.
