Austria softwood sawlog demand remains strong as prices continue rising – November 2025

Demand for softwood sawlogs in Austria remains high, with prices continuing to climb. The country has largely avoided storm damage this year, and bark beetle infestations have declined significantly due to favourable weather. As a result, the supply of softwood sawlogs is limited, while demand from sawmills remains exceptionally strong. Some southern Austrian mills have slightly reduced sawing operations due to low log inventories, although overall harvesting capacity is sufficient.
