European softwood consumption grew slightly in H1 2025 but the main good news for sawmills was the 13% growth in exports pulled by the US and MENA. Participants seemed less positive on the dynamics in H2 with a slow down over the summer which coincidentally or not was coupled with price increases from producers. The ETTF is forecasting a stable situation in 2026 in the EU both on the production side and on the side of consumption / imports with the notable exception of Germany where members expect growth in consumption and imports in 2026 on the back of government ...
