Production to temporarily stop at Stora Enso’s sawmill

Stora Enso will suspend production at its Veitsiluoto sawmill in Kemi for two months, from the beginning of August until early October, due to weak market conditions. Most employees at the mill will be temporarily laid off during the shutdown period. The Veitsiluoto sawmill produces pine lumber and has an annual production capacity of approximately 200,000 m³. According to Stora Enso, current demand does not support normal production levels. The decision follows a prolonged period of difficult conditions for sawmills in Finland and elsewhere in Northern Europe.
