Europe’s timber trade with the Gulf is slowing fast. What began as a shipping disruption in the Strait of Hormuz is now spreading through freight networks, sawmills and export markets across the continent. According to new Eurostat data, EU timber exports to the United Arab Emirates fell 14% year-on-year in January to 29,500 cubic metres.
