EU industries call for changes to EUDR as implementation concerns persist

A large group of European sectors is calling on EU institutions and Member States to take more time to address ongoing concerns over the EU Deforestation Regulation, warning that its current form risks affecting the competitiveness, resilience and autonomy of key industries. The signatories—spanning agriculture, livestock, forestry, forest-based industries, feed, vegetable oils and protein meals—state that while the Regulation is well-intentioned, its implementation needs to be reviewed and simplified to avoid unintended consequences. Since January 2026, stakeholders have repeatedly raised concerns over the Regulation’s design and rollout.
