Norway’s softwood floods the EU market in 2025

Norwegian softwood exports surged into the European Union in 2025, reaching record levels both in volume and value as buyers across the region absorbed significantly higher prices. EU imports of Norwegian softwood logs jumped 42% year-on-year to 6.13m cubic metres. In value terms, growth was even stronger, climbing 68% to €625m. The rise was not driven by volume alone: average prices increased markedly, from around €86 per cubic metre in 2024 to approximately €102 per cubic metre in 2025. Sweden accounted for the bulk of the expansion.
