B.C. reaches lumber understanding with China as U.S. trade pressure persists

British Columbia has signed a new understanding with China aimed at expanding cooperation on modern wood construction, a move provincial and federal officials see as a way to strengthen lumber exports as access to the U.S. market remains constrained by tariffs. The five-year, non-binding memorandum of understanding was signed by British Columbia’s Forests Ministry together with Canada’s federal natural resources department and China’s housing and urban development authorities.
