Gigantic transport volumes: Roundwood on Swedish railways

Large volumes of roundwood are being moved by rail in Sweden using the Smart GigaWood system, following cooperation between Austrian logistics specialist Innofreight, Swedish rail freight operator ProTrain, and forestry group Holmen. Holmen has been working with ProTrain since spring 2025, with ProTrain responsible for rail operations using Innofreight’s Smart GigaWood wagons. The system is now used for all of Holmen’s rail-based roundwood transport.
