A severe winter storm has caused extensive forest damage across parts of northern Sweden, with Gävleborg County emerging as the most heavily affected area so far. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, early indications suggest that several million cubic metres of timber may have been windthrown. According to the Swedish Farmers' Association (LRF), damage patterns are uneven, ranging from isolated windthrow to entire stands being flattened in exposed areas.
