Polish border guards, working jointly with the customs and tax service, have detained five people in connection with an investigation into the circumvention of EU sanctions on plywood originating from Belarus and Russia. According to the Maritime Unit of the Polish Border Guard, the suspects are aged between 43 and 64. Four are Polish citizens and one is a Russian national. All are linked to companies operating in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Investigators say that in 2022 the companies imported plywood declared as originating from Kazakhstan, while in reality the products were manufactured in Belarus and Russia.
