The European Parliament on Wednesday approved an agreement to delay and amend the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), confirming the outcome of trilogue negotiations concluded on 4 December. The European Council had endorsed the compromise a day earlier. Under the revised timeline, the application of the EUDR will be postponed by twelve months to January 2027. The agreement also removes the obligation to transmit reference numbers throughout the entire supply chain, a requirement that had drawn strong criticism from parts of the forest-based industries.
