U.S. timber output shows limited growth despite Trump push to expand logging

U.S. timber production from national forests has shown little sign of growth despite President Donald Trump’s pledge to significantly expand logging on federal land, according to Forest Service data for the most recent fiscal year. The Forest Service harvested about 2.52 billion board feet of timber in the fiscal year ending on Sept. 30, a level that remains broadly unchanged from recent years and is below the 2.66 billion board feet recorded in the final full fiscal year of the previous administration.
