Home Depot, Lowe’s rival files Chapter 11 bankruptcy as tariffs raise building costs

North American Builder’s Supply, a regional building-materials supplier based in Yorkville, Illinois, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Dec. 3, 2025, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The company reported estimated assets and liabilities of between USD 500,001 and USD 1 million. Operations remain open while the company seeks to reorganize. Court documents list several unsecured creditors, including Bluetape Inc. (USD 503,219), Kapitus Servicing Inc.
