Kushiro Wood Products Ltd. will build a new sawmill in the city of Kushiro in eastern Hokkaido, with equipment installation planned for spring–summer 2027 and production scheduled to begin in early 2028, technology supplier Hekotek said. The mill will include a full log-sorting line, log infeed system and a residuals handling system. Logs will be fed at variable speeds to a Valon Kone debarker and a HewSaw sawline, with the technology designed to reduce the level of manual labour in the process.
