German softwood lumber exporters turn to the US as EU markets slow

Germany exported 5.747 million m³ of softwood lumber in January–September 2025, down 6% from 6.085 million m³ in the same period of 2024, official trade figures show. The value of exports rose 9% to €1.590 billion, reflecting stronger prices in several overseas markets and a marked shift in destination patterns. The fall in volumes was driven by weaker shipments inside the European Union, while transatlantic deliveries and sales to selected Asian and African markets recorded strong gains.
