Austria has so far been spared from storm damage, and bark beetle infestation has declined significantly due to favourable weather conditions. As a result, the supply of softwood sawlogs remains rather limited, while demand is exceptionally strong. Sawmills are fully active, and due to low log inventories, some mills in southern Austria had to slightly reduce sawing operations. Harvesting capacity is sufficient for planned fellings, and roundwood transport and acceptance are taking place swiftly.
