On Tuesday, the European Commission proposed preliminary antidumping duties on imports of softwood plywood from Brazil, following an investigation launched earlier this year into alleged unfair pricing practices. The proposal, published on October 7, sets a provisional duty rate of 6.2% on Brazilian softwood plywood, expressed on the CIF Union border price, customs duty unpaid. The Commission said Tuesday’s announcement is “for information purposes only,” and the rates will not take effect until the provisional measures are formally adopted.
