Austrian wood-based materials producer Kronospan has received clearance from Romania’s Competition Council to acquire the ZG Timber sawmill in Sebeș from Germany’s Ziegler Group. The deal ensures continued operations at the Sebeș site and safeguards around 500 local jobs, following the insolvency of Ziegler Holding GmbH in late 2024. Ziegler had entered the Romanian market in 2023 after acquiring the Sebeș sawmill from HS Timber, formerly known as Holzindustrie Schweighofer.
